Accommodations

Ten (10) beach cottages, with stylish interiors and earth-blended amenities, dot the secluded white sandy beach and give privacy, comfort and seclusion.  The natural infinity pool cascades just beyond the Great Room, blending into the lush environment that is at the heart of Tiamo.

Island Breeze Cottages are beautiful eco-cottages located right on the beach, with their wrap-around decking open to sea-breezes, give you freedom to commune with nature and the ocean, day and night. Eco-chic stone and reclaimed glass bathrooms with walk-in showers add real luxury. All the cottage interiors are dressed in pale, restful driftwood shades, sea greens, blues and sumptuous linens.  Rate: $895 per night, per couple.

Cool Cottages are nestled among swaying coconut palms on the white sandy shore of the South Bight lie the air-conditioned Cool Cottages with their fabulous new reclaimed glass and natural stone bathrooms, textured linens and shades of driftwood. Relaxed, open-plan living quarters with a wet bar and walk-in wardrobe can all be opened up to make the most of balmy ocean breezes or the sunset whenever you choose. Rate: $1050 per night, per couple.

Pool Cottage (Honeymoon) is a wonderful hideaway for those very special celebrations when extra privacy and space are most welcome. The Pool Cottage has its own Jacuzzi and private decking that leads you right down to the water’s edge, making it the perfect spot for dining or simply relaxing in each other’s company, and with nature. Rate: $1200 per night, per couple.

Location

Andros Island is considered to be the largest unexplored tract of land in the western hemisphere, at 100 miles long by 40 miles wide it covers an area of roughly 2,300 square miles.  Andros sits in the middle of the Great Bahama Bank and is flanked to the east by The Tongue of the Ocean, a deepwater trough that drops to more than five thousand feet not more than a mile offshore.  Along the edge of “the drop” lies the third largest barrier reef in the world.  Andros Island itself is riddled with innumerable tidal creeks and inland flats, all home to an incredible diversity of marine life.  The largest of the waterways are the North, Middle and South Bights, which split Andros Island into its parts, North Andros, Middle Andros, Mangrove Cay, and South Andros.

Tiamo is situated on the southernmost island of Andros on the shore of one of these massive waterways, the South Bight. The total population of Andros totals roughly 8,000 people with a little over 2,000 on South Andros. This population lives in 18 small settlements strung along the single 30-mile road called the Queen’s Highway. This road is about 35 years old and electricity was only brought to the island in the early 1980’s. It is one of the least developed of the family islands and we strongly encourage you to explore it and meet some of the unique and friendly residents.

Tiamo is located about three miles along the shore of South Bight from Drigg’s Hill, the northernmost settlement on South Andros. The site on which our resort sits was previous inhabited until the early 1900’s and was referred to as the North Quarters. You may notice remains of foundations and we have often found bits of plates and bottles from the previous inhabitants around the property. The community of North Quarters consisted of freed slaves who primarily lived as farmers or spongers, taking what they didn’t use to sell in Nassau on handcrafted sailboats made right here on the beach

Getting There

Watermaker can carry up to 9 passengers in a Cessna Grand Caravan.  They fly dialy from Fort Lauderdale to Congo Town.

Bone Fishing and Blue Water Fishing with Guides

Tiamo is focused on providing the finest bonefishing experience in the world while offering unparalleled accommodations and wonderful options for non-fishing companions. With Andros Island’s endless, diverse flats, the third largest barrier reef in the world and quick access to deep water the opportunities are boundless. 

At Tiamo you will be accompanied on the water by guides that possess incredible knowledge of the flats and the skills necessary to provide you with the experience you have always dreamed chasing bonefish, tarpon and permit.  Also, with the addition of our WorldCat Sportfishing boat, we can offer blue-water fishing for species like dorado, wahoo and yellow-fin tuna as well as bottom fishing for an incredible variety of snapper, grouper and other reef fish.  If you would like to just head out and do a little fishing by yourself all you have to do is take a walk down the beach or hop on one off our kayaks and go exploring for yourself.  A complete description of fishing gear is available upon request

General

Please be sure to bring all the cash you need when traveling to South Andros as there are no cash machines and only limited banking hours. The trade winds that blow almost continually throughout the Bahamas give the Islands a warm agreeable climate, which varies little year round. The most refreshing time is November through May when the temperature averages 70-80F degrees. The rest of the year is a bit warmer with temperatures between 80-95F degrees.  Casual summer wear can be worn during the day any time of the year; but be sure to bring a jacket or sweater for cooler evenings.  Also be sure to bring a rain jacket and or umbrella in the event of a rain shower.

Rates

Rates are all-inclusive of all meals, soft drinks and non-fishing activities, canoeing, snorkelling trips, picnics and sailing.  Transfers from Mangrove Cay or Congo Town Airport.  Internet access in the library. Use of gym.  Room rate does not include alcoholic drinks, government taxes and gratuities, a 25% deposit is required on booking and the balance due 60 days before arrival.
