Hotel Le Toiny’s Greenhouse

St. Barths is lacking in the agricultural department. The island’s poor ground minerals and seasalt make it very difficult for gardens to thrive.  Nevertheless, in 2009, Hotel Le Toiny created the island’s first developed organic greenhouse.  Once a former pineapple field, the hotel’s greenhouse is now home to a variety of different fruits, vegetables and herbs including basil, lemongrass, licorice, leeks, ten types of sprouts, eight types of tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, green beans, green peas and melons. 5-star Restaurant Le Gaïac’s Executive Chef, Stéphane Mazières incorporates these freshly grown products into his menu each day.

To create the garden, Hotel Le Toiny collaborated with Benoit Thiery, a knowledgeable gardener from Forevergreen nursery. The hotel contributes the success of their garden to their committed staff as well as Theiry’s knowledge and passion of gardening in the Caribbean.

Le Toiny’s General Manager Guy Lombard recently sent us over some pictures of the greenhouse.  Check out the pictures below.

Hotel Le Toiny’s St. Barth Chill Out Spa Treatment

St. Barths’ most private and discreet resort, Hôtel Le Toiny, is pleased to announce a new spa treatment that puts a Caribbean spin on the traditional hot stone massage. Located on a 38-acre parcel of land on St. Barths’ hushed southeastern side, Hôtel Le Toiny offers an intimate Caribbean hideaway, featuring 15 private Villa Suites, each with its own breathtaking views, private terrace and heated swimming pool in a serene setting overlooking Le Toiny Bay.

St. Barth Chill Out Spa Treatment

Hotel Le Toiny’s new St. Barth Chill Out spa treatment (140 €/90 minutes) utilizes hand-polished, self-heating round clam shells for a deeply relaxing massage. The local clams are filled with a natural, self-heating mineral mixture derived directly from the sea, and cold-pressed avocado is warmed and applied directly to the shells, creating a treatment that gently relieves even the deepest muscle tension, alleviates stress, stimulates tissue metabolism and lymph flow, and promotes circulation. The warmth of the massage releases the clamshells’ valuable calcium ions, which are transferred to the skin to stimulate renewal, resulting in noticeably firmer and healthier skin texture.

Additionally, the St. Barth Chill Out treatment is wholly environmentally friendly, as neither power nor water is needed to heat the shells, and all ingredients used are completely natural and biodegradable.
