Just Back From Laucala Island, Annette Sordoni of Protravel

Travel agent friend Annette Sordoni of Protravel Beverly Hills  just returned from a quick two night stay at Laucala Island in Fiji. Annette sent us such a fabulous review that we just had to share in our Just Back series.  Here is what she had to say about her visit:

“Bula Janine!
In my life I have never experienced perfection like the island of Laucala! The entire time on island both Elvio and I had to keep pinching ourselves that we were really there. We are now ruined for life because no other property on earth will be able to live up to Laucala… EVER!

I am slowly getting my act together after my long fall back in to “reality” after my 2 ½ magical days in Paradise!

I can go on and on about Laucala… I have been telling EVERYONE how much I loved it. I reviewed the property at our meeting here in Sherman Oaks and all the agents have Laucala on their radar for their best clients.

The BUZZZZZ is out there… I anticipate that it is going to bring biz to what I consider to be the best place to travel to on earth!

There were so many exciting new discoveries that we made on the island that I just bubble over about:

  • Every afternoon is cake day as the staff brings a homemade fresh cake to your Villa around 5pm (this is in addition to the small delicate food treats you get in the morning and evening, plus the fresh juice in the ‘fridge replaced daily).
  • Every restaurant destination you arrive to they are waiting for you with fresh towels and fresh squeezed juice from the island
  • They have dry cleaning! I had a blouse that I did not think I could leave for the laundry and when we went on our island/farm tour I found out that they have dry cleaning on the island too!
  • The private trainer will come to your Villas for a yoga session on your own platform.
  • They brought in special chickens from Austria…
  • All the products in the bathroom are made on the island… They even include an after-sun gel that is fabulous.

….and on and on and on. I am still on a natural high from my stay here! Laucala has left an impression on my heart that I will never forget for eternity. It is truly as close to heaven as I have ever reached …7 Star!”

Private Island Playground

Situated in the cerulean waters off the northeastern coast of Fiji’s Laucala Island– a 25 residence private resort set on a 3,000-acre private isle. Once on the island, guests are immersed in exquisite surroundings. The resort offers every island ambiance- unbelievable cliff-top panoramic views, serene sugar white beaches, lush tropical vegetation, beachfront coconut plantations and an over water villa. Most would describe this Fijian gem as “paradise” or “the Land of Yes.”

The design of this private island offers a seamless transition from the built-up resort areas to the naturalistic, untouched splendor of the island itself.  All residences are strategically designed with guests’ privacy in mind, each exclusive and original, with interior designs hand-picked to suit each villa’s location. Each of the 3,220-square-foot villas are outfitted with outdoor showers, private pools and plasma TVs, and provide personal butler or Tao as they are called on the island

Fabio Castellano, Casto’s San Francisco Office Manager, visited this incredible island September 2011 and had nothing but great things to say about his stay. “Nothing in the Caribbean can compare…. or in the Maldives, or in Africa,” says Castellano. “This entire large island becomes your playground and transforms you into a Robinson Crusoe of the 21st century.”

And a giant playground it is.  Every outdoor activity you can imagine is offered on the island.  There is an 18-hole course tucked in the mountains, challenging enough for the serious golfer, yet enjoyable for the leisurely. If golfing is not for you, a personal trainer can provide a private yoga class by the relaxing, meditative ocean waves. Take tennis lessons or simply enjoy a quick match with a friend. Explore the island’s plantation and its countless gardens by horse-back. If you’re looking for water sports, Lacaula has them all- snorkeling, game fishing, jet skiing, and sailing. And the best part– all activities offered on the island are fully inclusive.

Located in the center of Laucala’s resort is the spa garden where guests can explore and learn aboutFiji’s vegetation and also create a personal essential oil distillery with pickings from the garden. The island’s spa offers four suites with specially designed relaxation remedies made from the island’s natural resources. To name a few services, the spa’s menu includes hand and body massages, body wraps, facials, traditional manicures and pedicures.

The dining on the island is a whole other experience.  Guests can choose from five restaurants featuring delicious cuisines with ingredients from the island’s own farm. Whether a candlelight dinner on a private beach, fine dining in the elegant Plantation House Restaurant, authentic special Asian delicacies in the Seagrass Restaurant, a spectacular sundowner cocktail in the Rock Lounge, avant-garde finger food in the Pool Bar, or a barbecue in the Beach Bar- each restaurant ensures to satisfy each guest’s taste buds.

Laucala Island is accessible via Air Pacific from Los Angeles to Nadi International Airport, then a private, mere 45 minute air transfer to the island. An airstrip and hangar are available for private jets.LaucalaIsland’s rates are fully inclusive.  One, two and three-bedroom residences are available, starting at $3,800 a night.  You can also rent the entire island for $150,000 a night (a four-night minimum). Transfers from Nadi are additional.

The rates may seem a bit pricey, but are worth it since there is nothing quite like this private Fijian island.

“In the end, counting the services offered in the cost of the stay, the rates become much more affordable to many of our clients,” says Castellano. “In those two days my eyes were opened to one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in the world.”

‘Why Not?’ Anything is Possible on Laucala Island

By Martin Kaufmann

David McLay Kidd first came to Laucala Island more than five years ago to build a golf course in a jungle so dense that King Kong could get lost in it. At the time, hundreds of workers had just arrived to carry out a fantastical mission: They were going to turn the north side of the 3,000-acre former coconut plantation into a private, seven-star resort… Read more here
