Greece has always been on travel advisor Laura Cole’s bucket list. But when she touched down in Italy recently, for a whirlwind immersion into the country, she had no plans of jetsetting to Santorini. But with three days “left open” at the end of her southern Italy itinerary, Laura – last minute – hopped a direct flight to Santorini, and checked into Chromata Santorini. Where she was instantly wowed.
“I arrived at sunset – which is the best impression one can have of Santorini,” says Laura. “I was shocked at how much I instantly loved both Santorini – and Chromata. Both are so beautiful. And romantic. I thought Santorini would be very touristy, which it can be. But Chromata is out of the way (yet close to wonderful restaurants). It’s very private; feels as if you are the only one staying there.”
Wow-factor? “The view,” says Laura. “From any room, the view is amazing. Special. Overlooking the sea. The people, guests, too are stunning – like models. Dressed beautifully and so happy, talking and laughing with one another. I also loved the ‘all-white.’ I’ll never get over the beauty of the white against blue (sea and sky).
“Staff too, is incredible. The moment I arrived they knew me, by name, I felt very special. Especially when my luggage was carried up and down all of those steps. I don’t know how they find (staff) to even do that. It’s incredible.”
“I really loved the location and highly recommend it to honeymooners – so romantic, and all lit up at night, really magical. And also to fit older adults who like to walk.”
