“Give me spots on my apples but leave me the birds and the bees” – Joni Mitchell
Sadly that line may turn out to have been a missed warning as many are wondering what has happened to the bees. The impact of pesticides and GMOs are believed to have contributed to a decrease in the bee population. And this is nothing short of disastrous to the development of our food supply.
There’s a move on to improve the awareness of bees – and how they are critical to our lives in many ways.
I’m firmly behind the ‘bee movement,’ and why, during a visit toGolden Door, I was so grateful to see the wellness resort’s commitment to the bees. Chef Frey (aka resident beekeeper) is using resident bees to pollinate the crops and produce honey.
It would be great to see the hospitality business get behind the beekeeping movement, as well as to follow Golden Door’s lead in adding non-GMO foods to menus. I congratulate Golden Door for making this stance.
