There’s so much I love about Mustique’s most eloquent villa – Toucan Hill. I love its curtains spun with gold. And endless sea views. I love the amazing attention to detail: silver inlay in the table. Yumminess of the food. And I love the romantic.ness of being high above the island. So completely unique.
We’re always up for a challenge. And a few of our hotels present just that when it comes to properly pronouncing their names. But once perfected (with a little phonetic breakdown), the pronunciation of New Zealand’s Wharekauhau Lodge, Fiji’s Laucala Island and Vancouver’s Clayoquot Wilderness Resort roll easily off the tongue. As easy reference: Wharekauhau – “Forry-co-ho” […]
I love summer. And summer in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. The outdoor concerts (Tanglewood), long walks in the forest, leisurely visits to the Norman Rockwell museum, and The Mount (Edith Wharton’s home). But this summer, I’m loving the relaxed, laid-back vibe that is now Blantyre. The welcoming of children… The new ‘ties-off’ mantra – men are […]
“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors…Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” ― Terry Pratchett I love the perspectives gained from traveling…the unfamiliarity in the familiar. The exotic scents, rich textures, new […]
It’s true. I’m a softie for Mother’s Day. I love sending mushy ‘mommy cards’ to my mother and mother-in-law. I love that Ant always tries to spoil me – by making breakfast. And this year, I love that my son, Dom, invited me to go out for lunch with all the team moms after volleyball […]
I love – and respect – authenticity. Staying true, no matter where in the world you happen to land. And I see this authenticity in each and every one of our hotels and destinations – whether visiting them on their turf; or they on ours. Case in point: Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. Recently, Chef Ryan Orr and Sous Chef […]
I met Joe Houghton, aka “Mr. Joe,” only a few times during my visits to Wharekauhau Estate – one of New Zealand’s largest working sheep farms, and sumptuously divine hotel. But I felt an instant connection, as if I’d known him my entire life. That’s how Mr. Joe is…he draws you in instantly with […]
Something about February – maybe it’s the splash of red (roses and hearts), or better yet the seemingly endless offering of chocolate – that just makes me happy. Add a side of Eiffel Tower and a stay at Hotel Esprit Saint Germain on Paris’ romantic Left Bank, and I’m in February-Valentine heaven. Especially when the […]
When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being French (although my Swiss-born heritage is pretty amazing too). I loved the idea of wearing chic clothing and eating chocolat croissants while wandering along the Seine and leafy streets of Paris. As an adult, my affinity for France has only intensified. But my love is […]
I love the sea, and small fishing villages. Add to that, stunning architecture, a spectacular view, cooking under-the-ground a steamy fish stew. And I’m over-the-moon. Excited to see, hear, touch, taste and feel the beauty of Tierra Hotel’s newest family member – Tierra Chiloe, located on Patagonia’s most mythical archieolpalago.
