In May 2015, Doug Easton and John Ziegler, managing partners of Celestielle Travel in West Hollywood, are celebrating their company’s tenth anniversary. Specializing in experiential travel and committed to only proposing properties and destinations they’ve personally visited, Doug and John have sampled the best of the best. And still, they were ‘blown away’ by their time at Clayoquot Wilderness Resortin British Columbia.
“Clayoquot has a stellar reputation and we had high expectations,” says John. “We assumed that the food and accommodations would be excellent, the staff well-trained and the activities fantastic. We also expected the surrounding nature to be both beautiful and unspoiled. Clayoquot lived up to its reputation…and then some.
“Every adventure, every meal and even every quiet moment seemed to be planned specifically for us – from having drinks on a comfortable couch next to a roaring outdoor fireplace, to a private, guided horseback ride through untouched, virgin forests, to watching orcas off Clayoquot Sound.
“For us, the star of the show at this sophisticated adventure resort is the property’s setting and natural beauty. [Owners] John and Adele have created an ethereally beautiful retreat that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the top resorts in the world. Their pride in their property is inspiring, and we loved how they challenge their guests to step outside of their comfort zone in the activities.
“We also loved the layout, design, and amenities of Clayoquot’s public areas and the countless ways to pamper oneself: while savoring a scrumptious meal either inside or out; while relaxing at the gorgeous spa, replete with wood-fired hot tubs; while sampling the wares at the well-stocked open bar; or while raiding the forest of cookie and candy jars….”
