When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being French (although my Swiss-born heritage is pretty amazing too). I loved the idea of wearing chic clothing and eating chocolat croissants while wandering along the Seine and leafy streets of Paris. As an adult, my affinity for France has only intensified. But my love is now spread equally between Paris, and its romantique sister, Caribbean-island, St. Barth. Both, so quintessentially French, exude an essence, a way of being, a mindset where life is never rushed, but feels sexy for no apparent reason. And yet, the locales are different – offering contrasting ways to experience life, French style. On St. Barth, visitors can ‘bliss out’ for five days (for the price of four) sipping wine, sampling brie, by their very own infinity pool at Hotel Le Toiny. Or, in Paris, shop Parisian-style at the Left Bank’s chic Le Le Bon Marché, before collapsing into their bed at Hotel Esprit Saint Germain. Both are available through March, 2015. Oh, but which to choose? Chacun voit midi a’ sa porte (“‘everyone sees noon at his own door – to each his own”)….
