Travel advisor Kimberly Shraibati has taken weeklong spa vacations. But says she’s never experienced anything quite like Golden Door…
“You know how the flight attendant says to put your oxygen mask on before helping others? I don’t think it is selfish to take time for yourself so that you can be a better version of yourself,” says Kimberly.
And there’s no better place, than Golden Door, to do so.
Reflecting on her recent stay, “the days were long – but in a really good way,” says Kimberly. “There was so much to do and enjoy. I loved starting the day with a hike and being outside. Then having quiet time and breakfast alone in my room. The exercise classes were fun and varied. The dance classes were especially entertaining – and who knew I was so in to archery.
“I loved that I was interviewed prior to arrival – regarding my personal goals, likes and dislikes. And that a customized schedule – classes, spa treatments, activities – was created just for me. The food was amazing. Portions are controlled (although you can always ask for more, so no need to fear being hungry), which helps build the mindset of what an appropriate serving really is. And everything is so fresh. Golden Door grows a lot of its own produce – vegetables, honey, even oranges come straight from the spa’s own groves.
“Daily spa treatments were also a highlight. What a treat to have six massages in one week – really works out your knots and kinks, and alleviates soreness from working out so much. And after four facials (my esthetician has been with Golden Door for 26 years) – my skin looked amazing.
“My personal trainer was great as well, she really pushed me to see that I can work out harder than I have been. I learned a lot too, about slowing my mind down, and am now trying to incorporate meditation into my life. To be more mindful – more present.”
