Top travel advisors have been everywhere. Seen everything. Experienced the best-of the best. So it’s especially meaningful when they are `wowed.’ Which is exactly the case when these top-tier advisors went behind The Golden Door – southern California’s iconic wellness retreat.
Says David Lowy of Renshaw Travel:
“Golden Door is one of the great travel experiences of the world. What a thrill it is to surrender all your cares and responsibilities, and just focus on yourself for a week.
“I lead a life that involves lots of international travel – and with that, comes a lot of eating, drinking and not having a ‘routine.’ Golden Door was a ‘CTRL+ALT+DEL’ for my mind and body. In other words, a reset.
“I woke up early each morning, went on a beautiful, two-hour, sunrise hike and returned to my room where a delicious, custom-ordered breakfast awaited me. By 9 a.m., the activities started. One of the highlights, for me, was the daily pre-lunch water volleyball game. I also loved the daily afternoon spa treatments. I’ve never felt so relaxed, exfoliated, clean, and energized at the same time.
“The one thing that really stands out in my mind was the food – fresh, delicious, and plentiful. I was concerned, beforehand, about being hungry while there, but I found out quickly that I could always order more. I still think about the incredible fish dishes, lamb, great salads, and terrific desserts. I also learned a lot about food consumption and how terrific healthy food can be. It was fascinating to participate in a cooking class and also learn about the bees that produce Golden Door’s amazing honey. Lastly, I really enjoyed the people that I met there. The Golden Door attracts a very interesting and accomplished clientele from all over. I definitely want to return soon for another visit and bring some of my friends to experience what I did. I know they will love it as much as I did.”
From Chad Clark, Chad Clark Travel:
“I was fortunate to experience the Golden Door during Men’s Week, and it was like visiting a CEO summer camp that focuses on health, wellness, farm-fresh food, and a bit of fun.
“Accommodations were incredibly comfortable and relaxing, and reminded me of a Japanese ryokan. All guests (even during co-ed weeks) receive their own room. The grounds are incredibly manicured, as are the over 20 miles of on-property hiking trails and there is something for every fitness interest (weights, stretching, cross fit, boxing, fencing, hiking, yoga).
“Golden Door has incredible farm to table food, prepared by Chef Grey Frey Jr. and his team of culinary wizards. Guests are given a suggested eating plan, but if you would like a little something extra here and there, Frey’s team is happy to accommodate. I found the food to be fantastic, plentiful and most of it is harvested on property.
“Golden Door is the perfect place for anyone who needs to recharge and refocus. In fact, I liked my experience so much that I immediately booked my wife for her own week. She enjoyed her experience just as much as I did.”
From Sandy Garcia, ProTravel:
“Golden Door is a soft place to land. The gentleness that exudes the Golden Door happens as you walk thru the doors and are greeted. Who would believe that engaging in exercise and pampering could be such a gentle experience. I have a repeat guest who will be traveling back to Golden Door again in 2017 to meet up with the same ladies she spent a week with during her last visit. Golden Door is perfect for anyone going through a life transition of any kind; it’s perfect for a single traveler; mother/daughter, friends and small groups.
And from Carolyn Farha, Indulge in Travel:
“I have clients who book their return to the Golden Door as soon as they return home. Until I experienced Golden Door myself, I didn’t really understand. But after spending time, I can say that Golden Door is an experience like no other.
“As soon as I entered, I felt taken care of. My first activity was meditation, and the feeling of ahhh remained with me throughout my time. Food was great, setting beautiful, and activities fun. And the good news: I’ve taken all the good I learned and am holding on. Eating better, feeling better, keeping up my exercise, holding on to my zen. In fact, the group I traveled with is planning a return…Just like my clients, I can’t wait to go back.”
