Towering high above the Rio de la Plata River in Puerto Madero – Buenos Aires’ most up-and-coming, cosmopolitan neighborhood – Alvear Icon is a blend of original art, pops of color, marble baths, Hollywood vibe, and fabulous views.
JCR’s Janine Cifelli was on property in June to see the new hotel firsthand. And was admittedly ‘wowed.’ “I love the vibe, quite glamorous. The artwork is exquisite. And the views from the rooms and suites – of both city and estuary – stunning.”
Alvear Icon, more modern and contemporary and located on the ‘hip side’ of town, is decidedly different from big sister, Alvear Palace – timeless and classic, with high-tea and white-glove, butler service. Or Alvear Art, designed with the business traveler in mind.
Alvear Icon Hotel features 159 rooms, softly designed in gray and gold hues, with bold splashes of color: red, green, blue glass and original paintings. The top (31st and 32nd) floors, opening in Argentine summer (September/October) will host a two-story restaurant with kosher kitchen, the first of its kind in Buenos Aires. Plus a wraparound bar-and-terrace overlooking the city – sure to become the “It” place for cocktails, dinners with a view, and celebrations.
A spa and wellness center, also opening in September, will span the 19th and 20th floors, offering restful views and therapeutic treatments.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alvear Icon to the JCR family,” says Anthony Cifelli. “The hotel – both elegant and contemporary – is the perfect blend of Alvear Palace and Alvear Art hotels.”
